Here are the directions to make the holder:
1. Take two threads from the embroidery floss and thread your needle. Knot the end.
2. Open the recycled subway map and decide where you would like to sew your decorative buttons. Sew a button or two wherever you like.
3. Now you're ready to stitch up the sides. Re-knot your thread and begin with the knot on the inside of the holder.
3. Refold the map, then stitch the sides, leaving only an 1/8" seam allowance. Make sure your Metrocard fits inside! You can use whatever stitch you like. I decided on a simple running stitch, but you could also use a blanket stitch or whip stitch.
