The Gates of New York in Miniature

One of my favorite architectural aspects of New York City is its wrought iron gates. They're ubiquitous, and until fairly recently I took them for granted as just a part of the landscape I see every day. Then I started to look at them. They're gorgeous, even the old lumpy-bumpy kind-of-rusty ones! Now I'm a bit obsessed with them and their various design elements. The following selection of items by members of The {NewNew} in one way or another celebrates the swirly, curly, fancy fabulousness of the city's everyday gates.

(Some gates in my neighborhood)

NYC, $200

Until next time --

Nice! Did you know that in the south the wrought iron workers would sing as they bent the iron to keep things even and in scale?

Ahh I just looked and saw that it was actually a photograph on the compact. My mistake, but I am still in love with it haha
