Workspace Wednesday (on Sunday) featuring: Urbahnika

Just a quick studio tour this morning!  We're going to visit with Allene La Spina of Urbahnika on Etsy.  Allene will be selling at the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade today from 11am-8pm. This year’s Holiday Handmade Cavalcade will take place at OpenHOUSE Gallery in Nolita, New York.  Come on by to get your handmade holiday gifts!

Allene makes beautiful embroidered pins by hand in her studio in New York City.  Here's a peek at Allene working, I love the loft-like feel of her white studio space:

Allene says, "Even though I usually work on my pins in the subway, when I am at home, I like to sit down on my drafting table with the view of the city ahead of me.  I find my inspiration in the colors and shapes I see around me."

Here is her view and her inspiration:

And here is her little helper 'making' some pins at her drafting table.  You can see the pins she has put up so she can see what works and what doesn't.  I love a perfectionist-- and I'm not talking about her studio cat...

And here is the view of the entire space-- cabinets for storage and everything so neat!!  And her work chair looks very ergonomic to me.

Well, here's a sneak peek of what Allene will be selling at the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade today.  This snowflake pin is available in her Etsy shop Urbahnika for $20.

Thanks Allene for sharing your awesome space with us, I can't wait to see your work in person today.
