UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH HHC PARTICIPANTS!

Can you believe it? We are only six weeks away from the hottest handmade shopping event of the 2013 season!

The Holiday Handmade Cavalcade!

Held again this year in the globally-recognized, fashion-forward and socially-conscious enclave of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the HHC is once again bringing together one of the most thoughtfully curated and highly-skilled groups of unique artisans and handcrafters that the NY metro area has to offer. For those of us who want to make real connections with who we buy from and who we buy for, who want to meet and do business with real people who work with love on products that they not only make but sell themselves, then this is the place to be!

And don't forget, on both days, the first 100 people through the door receieve goodie bags jammed to the brim with handmade pieces by all the vendors themselves!

Do. Not. Miss. Out!

In fact, we're so excited about this event that we want you to get to know as many of the 30+ vendors who will be there as we can, so that you can see for yourself how unique and special this event will be. We asked everybody this year if they could write, in their own words, a little bit about what they're up to for the season, and when they could, to include a little bit about themselves and their process.

So without further ado, here they are!

I'm super-excited to present the My Zoetrope 2014 Calendar! With 12 brand new illustrations to keep each month full of CUTE next year.
Lots of new cards for the holidays and your everyday occasions too!

I'm a Brooklyn-based visual artist, designer, maker, traveler, collector and curator of life experiences. I am inspired by discovering new places, meeting interesting people, learning new skills, seeking new experiences, being surrounded by art, and creating. I practice an old traditional craft with my own modern design signature to make it chic, hand-knit, yet accessible for any wardrobe. Modern, stylish pieces which I call "Yarnas," can be worn alone or layered in multiples and they make a statement whether a woman is wearing a little black dress or a tee. My necklaces add instant glam, start a conversation, and are fun to wear.  Women tell me when they wear my unique hand knit accessories they look effortlessly fabulous. My fall/winter collection features rich colors and neutrals in touchable, inviting textures and substantial weights with a bit of sparkle for the holidays.

I sell prints, cards, and journals, all made from my whimsical and nature-based pen-and-ink illustrations.  For the holidays I've got lovely illustrations that make great gifts -- for kids and for adults who are young at heart -- such as "The Cow Says MOO" and my other farm animal prints.  I'm also selling Christmas and Hanukkah cards with sophisticated designs.

This season, Brooklyn Owl is excited to be selling our customizable headbands, hair clips,
unicorn horns and bow ties. New for this holiday season will be the Sparkle Unicorn horns and
 new bow-tie patterns!

I am very excited this season to showcase my mobile photography. It is the direction I have been gravitating toward in 2013. All products that I am offering at the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade (prints, journals, re-purposed cigar boxes) will feature images shot and edited on my mobile phone. The star of the show is my annual Calendar, this year featuring architecture and design-driven black & white photography, printed locally in NYC on 100% recycled cardstock.

The pace has picked up here at Saskia de Vries Designs in preparation for the upcoming season. Saskia has been busy finding new and beautiful materials from all her fascinating international vendors: vibrant matte African glass from her Ghanian trader; rough-cut, multi-toned Chalcedony and deep red Jasper from the Far East; antique tribal pendants handmade in Nepal and much more! This season look for powerful colors and multiple strands, made as always with Saskia's unique touch. A happy holiday indeed!

Naturally Susan’s artisan skin care products are all natural and organic. It's chemical-free, fragrance-free beauty care that is suitable for sensitive skin. Our skin absorbs about 60% of what we put on it, so it’s important to keep that in mind when choosing the right skin care. Naturally Susan's products are versatile, so they can be used for all-over-body care, and they are travel-friendly to accommodate our busy, on-the-go lifestyles. Try our new Azuki Masque, a protein- and mineral-rich facial mask, and our roll on moisturizers that are long lasting, portable, and can be used as natural perfumes too.
