Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

If you want to know what color will dominate fashion, interior décor and weddings this year, the answer is radiant orchid!

Every year, in early December, Pantone, the global authority on color reveals its color choice.  This hue is described as “a captivating, magical, enigmatic purple.”

Personally I love all variations of this regal shade and can’t wait to see how this shade translates into the world of interior design.

In the home space, we’re likely to see radiant orchid as the color choice for accent pieces rather than a bigger furniture items.

Throw in a few pillows in this color on your sofa and you’ll make an instant fashion statement.  Shear drapery in this hue adds a romantic touch to a bedroom or living room.   As far as trends in wall paint, radiant orchid is suitable for an accent wall or a small space like a bathroom or kitchen.  An area rug is a smart way to use bold color in the home.

Being a versatile color, it can easily be paired with neutrals, lime green, orange, yellow, navy blue, turquoise, burgundy and brown.

Won't be using this color. It does nothing for this fairskinned redhead. The year goes by so fast. Weren't we just seeing "honeysuckle", oh that was two years ago, and I never did get around to adding anything in emerald green to my wardrobe. I wear, and decorate with, whatever color I like whenever I want to. Makes life so much simpler than trying to keep up with the changing fashions decreed by someone else, not to mention much cheaper.
