It's Opening Weekend At Dekalb Market!

Citizens of Brooklyn and beyond - rejoice! The long-awaited opening weekend of the Dekalb Market is upon us, chock-full of delectable food, activities for all ages, and a shopping experience not quite like any other around these here parts.

And of course, we here at the {NewNew} have our fair share of talent represented among the permanent boutiques at Dekalb (open 7 days a week - yow!) You definitely want to make these shops a destination when you make your trip out this season:

Described as "the city's tiniest lifestyle and gift boutique" by its designers Faune Yerby, Courtney Webb of webbedware, and Rebecca Fogle of l'atelier de bijoux, Never Let Me Go offers an array of covetable treasures including jewelry, photo collage, art, paper goods, small ceramics, and textiles.

Brooklyn-based designer Saskia was inspired by a year-long trip around the world, and incorporates materials and imagery from her travels to create bold, statement-making necklaces, earrings, and rings. Think unique, sophisticated, worldly pieces with major impact.

A collaboration of 7 local designers, AEAA offers an eclectic-yet-beautifully-cohesive range of handcrafted items including Merrimack and Monitor's reclaimed wood-and-plumbing furniture; exquisite enameled jewelry from be in the moment; sculptural air plants and terrariums from Roots in Rust; unique stationery from K Batty Design; stunning urban landscape photography by Kelley Gudahl; charming embroidered pillows from Ilara Design , and bold, color-blocked leather bags and wallets from (yours truly) Lolafalk.

And definitely don't miss these other {NewNew} members who will be a part of the vendor line-up for this weekend's big opening:

- Whimsical light switch covers and magnets from Lu Crafts
- Figurines and ornaments, scrabble tile pendants, glass tile magnets and plush toys from Purty Bird
- Colorful charms, rings, and necklaces from Wink and Flip
- Handcrafted millinery hats and facscinators from Artikal NYC

About Dekalb Market:
This downtown Brooklyn hotspot (open 7 days a week) made quite an impact last year around the holiday season with it's unique approach to retail, housing an array of pop-up shops and gourmet food vendors in repurposed shipping containers...and this year brings even more reason to stop by: an outdoor beer and wine garden, live music, and monthly events such as bike-in movie nights, roller derby, food festivals, dance parties, and SO much more!
