This was the outdoor vendor space at this year's second annual Fall Handmade Cavalcade in Beacon, NY on September 12. Despite the imposing weather, we had a great turn out! Here you can see silk screened dresses, bags and other accessories by Better Than Jam, knit bags and accessories and jewelry by Knit Knit, handmade soaps, bath salts and lotions from Beyond The Picket Fence, jewelry from Blonde Chick Studio, silk screened tees and dresses from Kimmchi, paper goods including cards and ornaments by Paper Presence and hand cut sterling silver jewelry from Caja Jewelry.

What's going on in Beacon, NY this Saturday?

Fall Handmade Cavalcade teams up with Beacon's Second Saturday Join the {New New} tomorrow in Beacon, NY for Second Saturday where the Beacon Arts Community Association is promoting the city as an up and coming center for the arts. Once a month they host this event where galleries and shops stay open until 9 pm. Check out their website to see the openings, music and dance performances available this month. Alongside Second Saturday, the {NewNew} is partnering with the Hudson Valley Esty team at our second Fall Handmade Cavalcade at the corner of North Cedar and Main Street from 11-7. It’s a great time to spend a day with family and friends exploring the town and supporting local independent artists and businesses. Weekend Getaway - Dia:Beacon

Spring is a great time to do some local exploring and have a quick weekend getaway to enjoy new places not too far from home. One place that I discovered about a year ago was the Dia modern art museum in Beacon, NY. Not only is the train ride from NYC along the Hudson River beautiful, but the area surrounding the museum is so serene. The café inside the Dia is quite lovely to have lunch at as well. The MTA also offers a package deal that includes a round trip ticket on the Metro North along with a ticket to the museum. Get all the details here:

The Handmade Cavalcade Rides into Beacon
New York–Area Etsy Vendors Throw an Indie Craft Fair

(Beacon, NY) The {NewNew} York Etsy Street Team—a group of sellers from Etsy.com, the online marketplace for handmade goods—is leaving the city for a day and heading up to Dutchess County to set up shop in Beacon, New York. The craft fair will take place from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and will coincide with Beacon's Second Saturday Art Walk (see http://www.beaconarts.org/ for more info). The Handmade Cavalcade fair will be located at the corner of Main Street and North Cedar, right in the middle of town.

Shop through 20 booths for one-of-a-kind items, all handmade by the hippest DIYers around. You’ll find smashing jewelry, paper goods, hand-screened clothing and accessories, unique artwork and items for the home, yummy soaps and body butters, and much much more.

Meet the artists and crafters who made the stunning wares for sale, and be sure to grab a souvenir. You can sample free refreshments throughout the day while you’re taking it all in.
